Got something that’s feeling a little unloved? All-in-one Fabricoat fabric paint helps you revive pretty much anything, from sofas and cushions to curtains and car interiors. Acting like a fabric dye, it’s extremely easy to use, highly durable and a cost effective way to bring fabric back to life.
Fabricoat comes in a range of 16 on-trend and classic colours. The colours are strong and vibrant and won’t fade or rub off after they’ve dried. Transform loved pieces to reflect who you are and what you value.
Once dry, the fabric will remain soft and flexible – it won’t make the material go hard or stiff – and it will provide a long-lasting finish that you’ll enjoy for years.
Just so you know...
If you’re using the paint to change the colour of fabric, always ensure the fabric is a lighter colour than the paint you decide to use. You can use our White Mixing Fabricoat paint on white to freshen the look of the fabric. However, its primary recommended use is as a mixing paint to lighten other colours in our range to your desired shade. As it dries, do brush the surface a few times to prevent any fibres sticking together.
If your fabric has a pile, such as velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon or microfibre, we recommend ordering double the quantities of fabric paint. This is because there’s lots more surface area to cover on these types of fabric.
Always test the fabric for water absorbency first. If it’s absorbent, Fabricoat will work.

Frequently Asked Questions
A. Yes, Fabricoat will work on any fabric provided it's absorbent. To test absorbency, drop some water onto the fabric and see if it soaks in. If it does, it is absorbent, and Fabricoat will work. We’d advise that for fabrics with a pile, you order double the amount of fabric paint as there's more surface area to cover.
A. A 250ml bottle will cover a lampshade or cushion, 500ml will paint a dining chair or a footstool, 1 litre will be enough for an armchair, headboard, or car seat, and 2.5 litres will be enough to transform a three-seater sofa.
However, if your fabric has a pile (like velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon, or microfibre), you will need to use more product as there is much more surface area to cover. We suggest ordering double the above quantities of fabric paint for these fabric types.
Our 125ml bottles are for small craft projects such as painting or printing on clothing, bags, napkins, lampshades and more. Alternatively they can be used as tester bottles to perform a small test on an inconspicuous area before tackling larger upholstery projects, if you want to see how the colour will turn out.
A. No, as long as you brush the fabric with a Soft Bristle Brush during and after painting it should not feel any different. Fabricoat is designed to dry with a soft, flexible finish without changing how the fabric feels.
A. If you want to change the colour of an item, we recommend you always use a darker paint than the original colour. If you do wish to transform your item to a lighter colour, the original darker colour is likely to show through. You can use our White Fabricoat as a base paint, but we suggest you always test a corner of the fabric first to guarantee this will work.
A. Sofas, chairs, lampshades, blinds, headboards and car interiors, but the possibilities are endless. A. Yes, it is. Fabricoat takes two hours to become touch-dry and can be used after that, but we’d advise waiting a full seven days to allow the colour to fully cure. Once it’s fully cured, the material can be washed or cleaned as normal. Once dry, it will not rub off onto your clothes or other items.

Used 1 part white to 4 parts green. It would look better with a second coat, but it’s ok as it is. Very happy with the product, easy to apply. My only regret is that all the colours are strong, bright colours. It would be good if you sold a stone coloured mixer which would both lighten the shade and give a softer, more muted hue.
the fabric headboard was old and discolored, it took 3 coats but fabricoat restored it and saved me time and money. Well worth the price.
Love the outcome, it has transformed the bed. However, I had to paint it quite a few times as the material was sucking in the paint. I got there in the end and pleased with the result.
Best ever product!!!!! I mixed 4 colors white, yellow, brown and dark gray to paint a sectional, woven fabric. ( See photo) The original fabric was a tired pastel weave as in the pictured back pillow. Theres always a shadow of whatever print is on the original fabric but in my case it worked out ok. 2 or 3 solid coats of Fabricpaint does the job. I actually spent enough on the paint to buy a sofa or loveseat but my furniture was very well built, with quality fabric, so I'm happy I painted the sectional. The ideas are endless. I painted a red lampshade dark grey. I needed about 6 layers of white to get rid of the red. Then 4 layers of grey. It is perfect now.

It’s really patchy and has needed an awful lot of coats.

We tried to paint the PVC fabric inside the boat cabin which had some really dark marks from standing closed and some lighter marks. After 4 coats of paint it was still showing through. I am an artist/chemist (B.SC degree) and mixed in some of my grey fabric paint. But it did not help as might have had to do about 8 coats of paint to get the celing an even colour. Unfortunately we mixed the grey paint in with the whole container of your paint so don't have any of your original paint with no colour added. I bought 2x 250ml of Speedball Fabric white paint at our Material /spotlight store and painted the whole ceiling and sides 2 layers and it was the end result we wanted. I add pigments and mix paints for my art too so. Your paint medium has far too little white pigment in it. Thanks for fast shipping - sorry we could not use your paint.
I found that the white fabric paint did not cover well and was quite runny. Other colours are better. I tried to paint faded red strips on fabric curtains and following the instructions using dampness this caused the paint to track where I didn’t want it to go. So in essence only use this for a solid colour change away from other fabrics and expect to need to do several coats.
I mixed raspberry with white to make a pale pink , which I painted the base of my settee. Great results and would definitely use again. It took more paint than thought.
Unfortunately this did not work at all, it is like water, and even after multiple coast there was absolutely no color change. Disappointing.

I needed to change the colour of my lamp shades from mid grey to white. I have painted them with Fabric Paint, but after 7 coats they unfortunately are not as white as I hoped. I would suggest the paint could do with more opacity.
I have a fabric roller blind I wanted to use it on and it didn’t work. The coating on the blind fabric meant that the paint just ran off it.

I couldn’t find a lampshade in either the size or colour that I needed to fit my latest charity shop find so I thought I would try a fabric dye. The one that came with the lamp didn’t fit with my colour scheme. This particular one had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. I wish I had tried sooner, weeks wasted buying and returning unsuitable shades!! Looks great for the fraction of the cost of a new one!

We used this to dye our motorhome blinds after they became mouldy. After using a mould killer (no bleach) we used 2 coats to restore them . Great result.

Cost to complete my vertical blind project would have been very expensive, so I changed tack and am using the paint for a chair instead. Quality of the paint is very good.
