Painted 2 sofas covered really well
Paint for all fabrics
Got something that’s feeling a little unloved? All-in-one Fabricoat fabric paint helps you revive pretty much anything, from sofas and cushions to curtains and car interiors. Acting like a fabric dye, it’s extremely easy to use, highly durable and a cost effective way to bring fabric back to life.
Fabricoat comes in a range of 16 on-trend and classic colours. The colours are strong and vibrant and won’t fade or rub off after they’ve dried. Add colour and beauty into the world around you.
Once dry, the fabric will remain soft and flexible – it won’t make the material go hard or stiff – and it will provide a long-lasting finish that you’ll enjoy for years.
If you’re using the paint to change the colour of fabric, always ensure the fabric is a lighter colour than the paint you decide to use. Can’t find the colour you desire? Then try mixing the colours to your preferred shade or use our White Mixing Fabricoat paint to lighten other colours. As it dries, do brush the surface a few times to prevent any fibres sticking together.
If your fabric has a pile, such as velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon or microfibre, we recommend ordering double the quantities of fabric paint. This is because there’s lots more surface area to cover on these types of fabric.
Always test the fabric for water absorbency first. If it’s absorbent, Fabricoat will work.
Full instructions are provided on in our How To section and on the product label.
We are Fabricoat. We are painting the fabric of life.
A. Yes, Fabricoat will work on any fabric provided it's absorbent. To test absorbency, drop some water onto the fabric and see if it soaks in. If it does, it is absorbent, and Fabricoat will work. We’d advise that for fabrics with a pile, you order double the amount of fabric paint as there's more surface area to cover.
A. A 250ml bottle will cover a lampshade or cushion, 500ml will paint a dining chair or a footstool, 1 litre will be enough for an armchair, headboard, or car seat, and 2.5 litres will be enough to transform a three-seater sofa.
However, if your fabric has a pile (like velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon, or microfibre), you will need to use more product as there is much more surface area to cover. We suggest ordering double the above quantities of fabric paint for these fabric types.
Our 125ml bottles are for small craft projects such as painting or printing on clothing, bags, napkins, lampshades and more. Alternatively they can be used as tester bottles to perform a small test on an inconspicuous area before tackling larger upholstery projects, if you want to see how the colour will turn out.
A. No, as long as you brush the fabric with a Soft Bristle Brush during and after painting it should not feel any different. Fabricoat is designed to dry with a soft, flexible finish without changing how the fabric feels.
A. If you want to change the colour of an item, we recommend you always use a darker paint than the original colour. If you do wish to transform your item to a lighter colour, the original darker colour is likely to show through. You can use our White Fabricoat as a base paint, but we suggest you always test a corner of the fabric first to guarantee this will work.
A. Sofas, chairs, lampshades, blinds, headboards and car interiors, but the possibilities are endless. Our small 125ml craft sized bottles are perfect for hand painting or printing on t-shirts and bags, or decorating fabric advent calendars and cushions. Check out our Inspire page or socials to see what our community have been painting.
A. Yes, it is. Fabricoat takes two hours to become touch-dry and can be used after that, but we’d advise waiting a full seven days to allow the colour to fully cure. Once it’s fully cured, the material can be washed or cleaned as normal. Once dry, it will not rub off onto your clothes or other items.

I had 2 old sofas that desperately needed a revamp. I had never heard of Fabricoat before stumbling on to it, online, and thought it worth the risk. It took 4 large bottles to cover both, and I had to water it down to make it stretch further, plus 1 large bottle of maroon. It took over 4 days including drying time, and a sore thumb joint from all the brushing - so hard work. But completely worth the time and trouble. My sofas look brilliant. Fabric feels a bit crusty, but that will soon smooth out . I am thrilled with the results and definitely so much cheaper than buying new sofas.

so easy to use! I was considering re-upholstering my bed to match my new green walls, but this paint was so much quicker and easier, I did this 9 months pregnant and so if I can, anyone can :)

Fabulous product! Made upcycling my old chairs really easy. Exceeded expectations.

I wanted to blend the 2 different greens but it didn’t quite work out how I’d hoped. The paint didn’t really cover the pattern as well as I’d hoped either so ended up buying more olive and doing 3 coats of olive. The colour worked well and I’m happy although much darker but the overall finish is a little shiny/sticky. I’ve buffed with a new soft brush but feels the same.

Paint went on well, had to do some parts twice. It takes time to get it on evenly. Colour is great.

Facile à appliquer. Aucune odeur. Le matériel se rince à l’eau très simplement. Le résultat est spectaculaire alors que le tissus était foncé.

I need to paint this worn out chair so it would coordinate with the bedding in the house we are selling. I cannot believe how good it looks now! I was a little worried about the seat being pretty threadbare and how that would turn out, but it looks fine. Much better than it did. I couldn’t be happier. Also, the chair doesn’t feel crunchy. Maybe just a little stiff and that’s probably because I only brushed in once and had to leave. If I could have brushed it more as it dried I think it wouldn’t feel stiff at all.

The paint was easy to apply. I needed two coats and will probably touch up where needed. Everyone is amazed and very complimentary!

Coverage is great! This only took one coat. I mixed a small amount of Brown with Olive for desired colour.

Brilliant product, east to use, super coverage and a great way of up cycling furniture. Brilliant videos and instructions on the Fabricoat website.

Used the Sage Green to paint over the beige ground on this chair and cover some old tea stains. It took a couple of careful coats but now looks great. Only down-graded my review to 4* as the coverage was less than I'd expected so I needed to order an extra pot to finish - but still good value when compared to re-upholstering.

Was going to buy a new sofa but decided to give the paint a go on my cream sofa. Application really easy using both brushes & dries well. Only applied one coat, I prefer the look & didn't want to go any darker. 1 large & 1 small bottle of paint covered 3 seater sofa & armchair. Hopefully given my sofa a few more years & my cat likes it! 😊

I liked the colour very much and it took a lot of paint . It took 3 coats. I really needed to dampen the fabric first. Unfortunately It’s not quite as soft as it was before though - there is a crunch to the chenille fabric. Personally I think it is suited to fabrics which are smooth and not textured in any way.

Hands down, the best idea ive ever had, my chesterfields are amazing quality and so solid, but as you can see the fabric was old and vile! I am blown away! Its literally like I have brand new chesterfields! Well worth every single penny, cost me about £215 to do one big 4 seater and one big 3 seater. Much much cheaper than new settees or re upholstery! Thank you Fabricoat! I am going to scotchguard mine in about a week too! Seriously chuffed and delighted!!!

I bought two of the 250ml but it wasn't enough so bought another. I should have bought the larger big bottle. Love the colour and so pleased we didn't have to throw away a comfortable chair.

Fantastic product - we used the olive pant on our cream chair and it’s like brand new. We needed 3 coats BUT found it better using a roller on the 2nd coat so if we’d used the roller during the first application would have got away with two. Def recommend….buy a roller 😉
Rebecca D. 5/5
The olive green is a really nice colour, it took two coats and almost 2.5 L to cover this chair but it was definitely very good value.

I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I upholstered tge grey version of the sofa but, as we have moved, I've entirely changed the decor. It has saved me about 15 metres of fabric and a lot of time. After a couple of weeks, it is now as soft as the original velvet. I even did the cushions as I was advised that they would be colour fast and washable. Could not recommend more. Just looking for my next project!!

1 coat has changed the colour completely, absolutely brilliant product and no stiffness!

The paint is really easy to use and the texture of the fabric really hasn’t changed at all! It doesn’t feel painted which is what I was nervous of. The colour definitely needed two coats. Might do a third, but I’m so happy with how this came out!

Really impressed with the coverage of a previously grey footstool. Saved me £350 to recover it to go with our new sofa. Easy to apply, and although a bit hard on top to start with it is softening up.

Bought a secondhand headboard with the intention of reupholstering it. However it was in perfect condition so I thought I would try Fabricoat. And what a great result: I love it! I used the brushes I ordered and they worked well. The ‘scrubbing’ brush was essential to stop the paint being too thick in areas. Three coats applied and I only used a third of the 1L tub I bought. Now looking for my next project!

I used olive green, raspberry, mustard yellow, blue and purple to paint a white fabric kneeling chair. The result is fabulous, as you can see on the photo. I'll be buying more of this fabric paint !

Really impressed with this paint. I mixed olive green with dark brown (1 cup green to 1/4 cup brown) and painted 3 coats to cover my pink velvet chair. Easy to use and great result 🩷

Worked very well to change the smooth teal chairs to green. Pics show original colour, one coat and 2 coats. Not a shop perfect finish but good enough for me and my family and saved £££. Didn't work so well on the more textured finish of a foot stool. Patchy after 2 coats so I decided to get that recovered. All in all, would recommend and use again, provided it's smooth fabric and not your antique heirloom furniture.
