Time to unleash the fab factor with our Dark Blue Fabric Paint

Got something that’s feeling a little unloved? All-in-one Fabricoat fabric paint helps you revive pretty much anything, from sofas and cushions to curtains and car interiors. Acting like a fabric dye, it’s extremely easy to use, highly durable and a cost effective way to bring fabric back to life.

Fabricoat comes in a range of 16 on-trend and classic colours. The colours are strong and vibrant and won’t fade or rub off after they’ve dried. Add your own unique personality and style to your surroundings.

Once dry, the fabric will remain soft and flexible – it won’t make the material go hard or stiff – and it will provide a long-lasting finish that you’ll enjoy for years.

Just so you know...

If you’re using the paint to change the colour of fabric, always ensure the fabric is a lighter colour than the paint you decide to use. Can’t find the colour you desire? Then try mixing the colours to your preferred shade or use our White Mixing Fabricoat paint to lighten other colours. As it dries, do brush the surface a few times to prevent any fibres sticking together.

If your fabric has a pile, such as velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon or microfibre, we recommend ordering double the quantities of fabric paint. This is because there’s lots more surface area to cover on these types of fabric.

Always test the fabric for water absorbency first. If it’s absorbent, Fabricoat will work.

Full instructions are provided on in our How To section and on the product label.

Frequently Asked Questions

A. Yes, Fabricoat will work on any fabric provided it's absorbent. To test absorbency, drop some water onto the fabric and see if it soaks in. If it does, it is absorbent, and Fabricoat will work. We’d advise that for fabrics with a pile, you order double the amount of fabric paint as there's more surface area to cover.

A. A 250ml bottle will cover a lampshade or cushion, 500ml will paint a dining chair or a footstool, 1 litre will be enough for an armchair, headboard, or car seat, and 2.5 litres will be enough to transform a three-seater sofa.

However, if your fabric has a pile (like velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon, or microfibre), you will need to use more product as there is much more surface area to cover. We suggest ordering double the above quantities of fabric paint for these fabric types.

Our 125ml bottles are for small craft projects such as painting or printing on clothing, bags, napkins, lampshades and more. Alternatively they can be used as tester bottles to perform a small test on an inconspicuous area before tackling larger upholstery projects, if you want to see how the colour will turn out.

A. No, as long as you brush the fabric with a Soft Bristle Brush during and after painting it should not feel any different. Fabricoat is designed to dry with a soft, flexible finish without changing how the fabric feels.

A. If you want to change the colour of an item, we recommend you always use a darker paint than the original colour.  If you do wish to transform your item to a lighter colour, the original darker colour is likely to show through. You can use our White Fabricoat as a base paint, but we suggest you always test a corner of the fabric first to guarantee this will work.

A. Sofas, chairs, lampshades, blinds, headboards and car interiors, but the possibilities are endless. Our small 125ml craft sized bottles are perfect for hand painting or printing on t-shirts and bags, or decorating fabric advent calendars and cushions. Check out our Inspire page or socials to see what our community have been painting.

A. Yes, it is. Fabricoat takes two hours to become touch-dry and can be used after that, but we’d advise waiting a full seven days to allow the colour to fully cure. Once it’s fully cured, the material can be washed or cleaned as normal. Once dry, it will not rub off onto your clothes or other items.

Loved this paint. Chair now matches rest of the furniture.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Gobsmacked!!! I saw other people’s pics and thought there’s no way… I have to try this for myself !!! Nothing is safe in my house now!!! Addicted. It’s AMAZING! I have a brand new chair 🥰🥰🥰🥰 so so so so happy 👊🏻

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Covered 4 dining chairs and delighted with the results 🤩

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I was slightly sceptical about doing this and nervous. It’s an expensive rug we’d had made several years ago and the rug itself was in good nick but the edging had faded so badly in the sun. I followed the instructions but I would say I watered the border quite well with spray first and I did add some water to the paint before applying. Honestly it went on a dream but I did do 2 coats (leaving to dry between coats) in the end and touched up. I am so pleased with it, it looks brand new. So big fan here.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

It took 2.5L to cover the sofa - still a few touch ups needed where it was marked before it was fully cured. Didn’t think that would be enough so I ordered another 2.5L, which wasn’t needed. I’ve just returned that, so can’t comment on the return process so far. Great paint tho, transformed my sofa! 😊

Great shade!

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I was planning on painting my whole suite but it’s too big a job for me. The colour is good.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I loved these chairs but the fabric on the cushions doesn't match our decor. The cost of reupholstering them was too much so I tried fabricoat in dark navy and I love the result. It was so easy to use and really happy with the outcome.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

A great product! Easy to use and has transformed my room at a fraction of the cost of replacing the panels. Would highly recommend, five stars!

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I wanted to change my chair to a navy blue to go better with the colour scheme. The paint was very easy to apply, it needed a 2nd coat as was patchy, however, I had made sure to order enough so this wasn't a problem. Im very pleased with the outcome

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Our pale grey chairs were marked and looked sad…. The dark blue gave us a real pop of colour

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I bought the dark blue to cover a green chair. I bought a litre and must have put 6 coats in some areas. To keep doing this would not be cost effective. It is disappointing as was really excited at the prospect of reusing a loved chair. It is now likely we will look to buy new one instead sometime in the future. Thanks Susan

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I've used Fabricoat before and love the results. This colour almost looks like a dark denim. Gives an overall classy look. Delighted!

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

It was a longer process than I anticipated, the fabric of my chairs soaked in the paint and meant I used more than I thought I would. Despite spraying and brushing the chairs they still feel “crispy” I’m hoping over time with use they will soften. Overall I’m happy with the result

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Great for our upcycling the vintage wingback chairs we had as a project

My hat back to life

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Bloody marvelous stuff, worth every penny. My pal is buying some soon for her sofa. 5*

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Incredible product. Used dark blue in a huge grey velvet sofa. Looks amazing. So easy to use. Love it. Will be dyeing everything now. 😀

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I have to say it is THE most fabulous product ever. The pics are a work in progress- doing two massive grey velvet sofas 3m long each! Will take a while! . I was a bit sceptical as have had a few dyeing disasters in the past but Fabricote is nothing short of miraculous. Goes on so quickly and easily and looks amazing. Cannot wait til I’ve finished- think they will look great. Wondering what else I can use it on now. You’ve started something! ( and saved me thousands in recovering costs!). Very happy customer. 😀

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Really good coverage, looks nice is a bit crunchy but think that’s the material I painted on as it’s an old chair and did 3 coats.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I loved the ease of applying and was happy with the softness after the first coat. It needed a second coat but even though I brushed again the softness of the velvet disappeared and it became flat and a bit rough. As it was orange velvet it really needs a third coat as I can see the colour coming through in sunlight (not so much otherwise) but I am concerned it might make the fabric harder. I’ve had a lot of compliments on them though, I used one bottle per chair but I guess 1.5 are really needed.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Used to bring my old footstool back to life and what an amazing job it did! The existing colour was very similar to the paint so I didn’t need many coats and the paint itself went on really easy. The only downside is that the material has went very stiff and scratchy but I knew this would happen and can’t complain given how brilliant it now looks!

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

The chair was my late father-in-laws. It is a comfy chair well made, it seemed a shame to send it the landfill, just because it didn’t fit in with our decor. Before and after picture of chair, shows how it looks. The paint is thick and glides on well. The chair needed 4 coats of fabric paint to achieve the look. Now we just have to wait to see how well it responds to being used. So far I am delighted with the results, it has given an old chair an updated look.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I didn’t take a before photo, I wish i had but did take some during photos. I have a crushed grey velvet bed and this paint is amazing. I used 2.5lts; 2 coats and it covered beautifully and so easy to use. I didn’t brush it as I wasn’t concerned about it being ‘stiff’ and it is a bit but i absolutely love how tit turned out. Would definitely recommend

Worked perfectly well.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

So pleased. Bought these two footstools/coffee tables online but when they arrived realised that they were a lighter blue then we originally thought. So happy that I found fabricoat. Have just finished the smaller of the two footstools and only took two coats. The colour is so rich and makes the stool look almost velvet. Can’t wait to get the bigger one finished.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Very good fabric

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I had some mismatched furniture, using the fabricoat paint brought it all together. I would say if doing small areas, like buttons, it’s not worth brushing in between as I found I got marks on upholstery that I wasn’t painting. Otherwise it was a very easy process.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Bed (headboard, frame and side tables) all covered in fabric that had faded and had a few stains and was looking very lack lustre. Tried all sorts of cleaners to bring it back but only made it worse. Then tried Fabric paint, and you could see the difference immediately (see photo)! Definitely helped brushing it with the brush supplied to get dust out of fabric first, and wiping over with quite a damp cloth just before you do each section helped paint flow into the fabric evenly. Had to give it a couple of coats on areas where we used too many chemicals to try and remove stains, but moist areas one coat was sufficient. Used 2 litres on this and very pleased! with result

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I was concerned my old swivel chair that I loved wouldn't match my new blue sofa. My husband suggested Fabricoat as he had seen it online. I was sceptical but agreed to give it a go. Wow! I am so impressed by the coverage and the colour match to my new sofa. Would highly recommend 👌

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

This changed an unloved set (couldn’t give it away) into something I love! The chair is shown following first and second coat. I really like how the pattern still comes through a bit. Going to try leather paint for my stools next! I highly recommend this product!

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

I used just under 1 litre of dark blue to cover this king size bed frame including the large headboard. Two generous coats gave a great result. It transformed from light beige linen, which had some unsightly marks on, to what you see in the pictures. Texture is a little rougher but still ok.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

It took two 500ml bottle to first colour in the gold fleurs de lys and then paint the whole frame. I dyed the seat and back cushions in the washing machine and they didn't take as well, so I will be buying a 250ml bottle to further paint in the gold flowers.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Amazing product! Has brought a very expensive bit of furniture back to life 😊

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Painted a roller blind that was previously a sage green floral pattern. Saved myself a fortune not having to buy a new one. Fabricoat was super easy to use, affordable and delivered quickly! Would recommend to anyone!

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

brilliant product that sank into the fabric easily and transformed the lampshades perfectly.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

We had 2 badly faded tub chairs, that now look like so much better and have been given a new lease of life. The fabric was quite ‘thirsty’ and we did need more than was recommended, but it was worth it.

Customer photo review of Fabric Paint -- Dark Blue

Wanted to transform my boring headboard. It was expensive I didn’t want to replace it. I chose navy and it’s looks amazing! Very pleased with the results. It dried matte and the fabric has remained soft to the touch. Will certainly buy again!

I haven’t finished my project yet, but the free chair I got is beginning to come back to life!
