Paint for all fabrics
Got something that’s feeling a little unloved? All-in-one Fabricoat fabric paint helps you revive pretty much anything, from sofas and cushions to curtains and car interiors. Acting like a fabric dye, it’s extremely easy to use, highly durable and a cost effective way to bring fabric back to life.
Fabricoat comes in a range of 16 on-trend and classic colours. The colours are strong and vibrant and won’t fade or rub off after they’ve dried. Transform loved pieces to reflect who you are and what you value.
Once dry, the fabric will remain soft and flexible – it won’t make the material go hard or stiff – and it will provide a long-lasting finish that you’ll enjoy for years.
If you’re using the paint to change the colour of fabric, always ensure the fabric is a lighter colour than the paint you decide to use. Can’t find the colour you desire? Then try mixing the colours to your preferred shade or use our White Mixing Fabricoat paint to lighten other colours. As it dries, do brush the surface a few times to prevent any fibres sticking together.
If your fabric has a pile, such as velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon or microfibre, we recommend ordering double the quantities of fabric paint. This is because there’s lots more surface area to cover on these types of fabric.
Always test the fabric for water absorbency first. If it’s absorbent, Fabricoat will work.
Full instructions are provided on in our How To section and on the product label.
We are Fabricoat. We are painting the fabric of life.
A. Yes, Fabricoat will work on any fabric provided it's absorbent. To test absorbency, drop some water onto the fabric and see if it soaks in. If it does, it is absorbent, and Fabricoat will work. We’d advise that for fabrics with a pile, you order double the amount of fabric paint as there's more surface area to cover.
A. A 250ml bottle will cover a lampshade or cushion, 500ml will paint a dining chair or a footstool, 1 litre will be enough for an armchair, headboard, or car seat, and 2.5 litres will be enough to transform a three-seater sofa.
However, if your fabric has a pile (like velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon, or microfibre), you will need to use more product as there is much more surface area to cover. We suggest ordering double the above quantities of fabric paint for these fabric types.
Our 125ml bottles are for small craft projects such as painting or printing on clothing, bags, napkins, lampshades and more. Alternatively they can be used as tester bottles to perform a small test on an inconspicuous area before tackling larger upholstery projects, if you want to see how the colour will turn out.
A. No, as long as you brush the fabric with a Soft Bristle Brush during and after painting it should not feel any different. Fabricoat is designed to dry with a soft, flexible finish without changing how the fabric feels.
A. If you want to change the colour of an item, we recommend you always use a darker paint than the original colour. If you do wish to transform your item to a lighter colour, the original darker colour is likely to show through. You can use our White Fabricoat as a base paint, but we suggest you always test a corner of the fabric first to guarantee this will work.
A. Sofas, chairs, lampshades, blinds, headboards and car interiors, but the possibilities are endless. Our small 125ml craft sized bottles are perfect for hand painting or printing on t-shirts and bags, or decorating fabric advent calendars and cushions. Check out our Inspire page or socials to see what our community have been painting.
A. Yes, it is. Fabricoat takes two hours to become touch-dry and can be used after that, but we’d advise waiting a full seven days to allow the colour to fully cure. Once it’s fully cured, the material can be washed or cleaned as normal. Once dry, it will not rub off onto your clothes or other items.

Went from grey to blue. Love the colour. Was very easy

It took two coats and I'm considering a third. It has transformed the sofa which we thought may have to be replaced. I found Fabricote easy to use although a little thick on the sofas fabric so I diluted it by a third with water and it was better to apply. I used ×2 2.5 ltr of paint for a two seater and a three seater sofa. The project came in about £200 alot cheaper than a new sofa. It's a great product.

The lampshades were white and I wanted to make them a better match for the room, I think they have turned out perfectly and everyone I show them to think they look great and can’t believe I just painted them as they look new. The paint was easy to use and because they are pleated they did take a few coats but there was plenty of paint and there’s still lots left.

I bought this color to use on a beach bag. It was perfect. I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I left the bag at the beach house or I'd post a pic. Left the bag at the beach, BUT had some left over paint so decided to freshen up a faded lampshade from the screened porch. It isn't dry yet and will need a 2nd coat, but I can already tell it's gonna look great. I've posted the "before" and the "after."

Phenomenal product. I was able to paint my entire couch with half of a 2.5L bottle. Make sure you wet down your surface super well, and water down your paint by about 15-20%. Will buy again. So many compliments on the “new” couch.

I needed to change the colour of a sofa protector that had a deep pile. Very pleased. The paint went on very easily. I used 2 coats and have loads left. . Highly recommend

Used blue, green and white to mix a teal colour. Revamped an old IKEA footstool that was cream coloured before. The brushes are really handy, especially the bristle brush to get the material to stay fabric-y and not go stiff. It looks a bit patchy but that’s on me. It was a first try. Once dried, the colour stays put and doesn’t come off.

I have photos too but cannot sure both. Really happy to have found this solution for my couch. Any tint would not work. I’m very happy about the colour and feel after applying a couple of layers of paint. Only remark: I used 2,5L for a 2 seater couch while I was expecting to use a bit less

Very pleased with the FINAL results of the two identical large 2 seater sofas. They were light cream and still quite new (from M&S) l used 9 litres of blue (twice as much as l thought) The blue is a great colour, the photos don't do it justice. The fabric is a dense linen which needed a lot of paint. I bought the paint brush and brush combination pack which were useless, instead I used a short stubby brush to get the paint into all the fibres and then worked it in with a bristle brush which was kinder on the fabric than the one provided. They needed 2 good coats of paint. Water spraying every section was essential. Don't try and spread the paint too thin and brush in all directions to get it into the fibres if it's not a smooth fabric. Best tip - allocate twice as much time as you think you need. I was going to get them recovered but thought l would try this. Delighted with the results and saved a lot of money!!!

Have been given 4 x directors chairs but the cream coloured fabric was a bit stained. Tried Dylon as i thought they were made of canvas - didn't work! Searched hesitantly for fabric paint (I mean, surely that won't work) and with the reviews that Fabricoat got, it would be silly not to give them a try. So i did and ordered a 500ml bottle. Went on great with a brush, i was careful to soak every millimetre of the fabric (both sides) and when wet, coverage looked perfect. As it dried, it became subtly patchy and wasn't the navy blue I had hoped for but I do actually love the effect. Its a pale to mid-blue (on cream fabric). Next time, I would get a bigger bottle and do a couple of coats. But that's next time...

Big change in colour, wanted a statement piece in my newly decorated front room. Took 2 coats to cover fully. I needed almost 4 bottles to cover it twice, guess it's the material, was super absorbent. It's not perfect but it's my first attempt at doing anything like this so I'm really pleased with the outcome. Great colour. I bought the blue and it has a teal undertone to it which is exactly what I wanted.

Easy to use. Needed two coats because of the texture of the chair. I used it on a chair I’ve bought in a charity shop which I thoroughly cleaned before painting. I got a recycled chair in the colour I liked for a fraction of the price of buying new.
