Just so you know...
If you're using the paint to change the colour of fabric, always ensure the fabric is a lighter colour than the paint you decide to use. Can't find the colour you desire? Then try mixing the colours to your preferred shade or use our White Mixing Fabricoat paint to lighten other colours. As it dries, do brush the surface a few times to prevent any fibres sticking together.
If your fabric has a pile, such as velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon or microfibre, we recommend ordering double the quantities of fabric paint. This is because there's lots more surface area to cover on these types of fabric.
Always test the fabric for water absorbency first. If it's absorbent, Fabricoat will work.

Frequently Asked Questions
A. Yes, Fabricoat will work on any fabric provided it's absorbent. To test absorbency, drop some water onto the fabric and see if it soaks in. If it does, it is absorbent, and Fabricoat will work. We’d advise that for fabrics with a pile, you order double the amount of fabric paint as there's more surface area to cover.
A. A 250ml bottle will cover a lampshade or cushion, 500ml will paint a dining chair or a footstool, 1 litre will be enough for an armchair, headboard, or car seat, and 2.5 litres will be enough to transform a three-seater sofa.
However, if your fabric has a pile (like velvet, faux-suede, chenille, draylon, or microfibre), you will need to use more product as there is much more surface area to cover. We suggest ordering double the above quantities of fabric paint for these fabric types.
Our 125ml bottles are for small craft projects such as painting or printing on clothing, bags, napkins, lampshades and more. Alternatively they can be used as tester bottles to perform a small test on an inconspicuous area before tackling larger upholstery projects, if you want to see how the colour will turn out.
A. No, as long as you brush the fabric with a Soft Bristle Brush during and after painting it should not feel any different. Fabricoat is designed to dry with a soft, flexible finish without changing how the fabric feels.
A. If you want to change the colour of an item, we recommend you always use a darker paint than the original colour. If you do wish to transform your item to a lighter colour, the original darker colour is likely to show through. You can use our White Fabricoat as a base paint, but we suggest you always test a corner of the fabric first to guarantee this will work.
A. Sofas, chairs, lampshades, blinds, headboards and car interiors, but the possibilities are endless. Our small 125ml craft sized bottles are perfect for hand painting or printing on t-shirts and bags, or decorating fabric advent calendars and cushions. A. Yes, it is. Fabricoat takes two hours to become touch-dry and can be used after that, but we’d advise waiting a full seven days to allow the colour to fully cure. Once it’s fully cured, the material can be washed or cleaned as normal. Once dry, it will not rub off onto your clothes or other items.

Took 3 coats. The fabric to be painted was a light grey/turquoise boucle type weave. Not the easiest to cover but got there in the end
This old chair echoes memories of the past, with my son being nursed in yesteryears, through to the cats claiming as their own. Previously a light blue, we fancied a change in colour, opting for this bright yellow. I purchased a litre and applied one coat of paint liberally, before letting the paint dry over night. After a brush to soften the fabric, and a light spray of water, I applied a second coat. I am happy with the result and the chair has a new lease of life.
I did ask you does it cover grey and got no reply this is the result not good 😐
This has transformed an old tired chair that was grubby, unloved and very faded into a new piece of furniture. I used two coats to spread the colour evenly and delighted with the outcome!!

The first coat took so much paint I was worried we'd need more! The second coat only used a little so all was good. The photo attached is two coats. I am happy with it, but not sure I love it. It has allowed me to give a new lease of live to old furniture. I would recommend it.
Very poor coverage
So easy to use, and really good colour
We mixed 1.5L of our own colour using the yellow as a base and diluted the mix as per instructions with about 700mls of water before applying it with a spray gun. We used about 1/3 rd of this mix to cover a cream 3 seater sofa. We didn’t brush during application as recommended thinking it would be ok because we used thinner paint. So It did change the feel of the fabric a little bit and the colour was a bit too solid looking than we wanted. So when it was completely dry we gave it all a VERY light rub with some medium grade sandpaper (whilst vacuuming to catch any dust). This softened the look by revealing a hint of the original cream colour underneath and the weave of the fabric which helped to restore the original feel. Great result and saved us buying new or recovering our sofa.
Transformed a beige shade into a pop of colour. First time I’ve used Fabricoat fabric paint but found it really easy to apply, I used masking tape to protect the inside and I'm so pleased with the result. Can’t wait to start my next project 🙂

This is the second time I’ve used Fabricoat. The first time I used it to paint the inside lining of a brimmed hat, where I wanted the lining the same colour as the hat. It worked well. This time I’ve been able to re-use an old chair and give it a new lease of life in a different room with a different colour scheme. Good to know I have the option of changing fabric colours with Fabricoat paint.
Really great product. I thought I would have to get my favorite old chair re-upholstered, so I tried using Fabricoat before we committed. I'm glad I did! We saved a fortune and now have a very funky new look that really makes our old chair pop. It coveres all the stains and wear and tear. The finish is different to the original fabric which I was a little concerned about but this has already begun to soften over a little time. I found I could layer up for a deeper colour and to hide stains. Our chair is now a feature piece in my partners office and we both love it. FAB.

Thought I'd show a mid paint photo for reference. This is my light grey L shaped sofa. The yellow is fantastic and although I messed up on not ordering enough, this is just what 1 coat does. I'll be buying more to finish off, but its already brightened up my room so much and the feel of the fabric is the same as before. I used a small foam paint roller as the coverage is better than a brush. Can't wait to see my finished yellow sofa!

Arm chair looking a bit worse for wear so decided to try fabricoat bought the 500ml which was enough to do 2 coats. Delivery was free and received product within 3 days.used a brush and a roller and really pleased with the results will definitely use again.

Great fabric paint
My chair was old and worn and in need of recovering anyway so I thought it was a good time to try Fabricoat. It went on really well and doesn't leave a "crunchy" finish which you would expect with paint. It semi covered the worn areas but not as well as I had hoped. Also the colour is more of an acid yellow that a mustard in my opinion. Overall its ok and has given my chair a little more life but ultimately it will still need to be recovered.

I have not used a fabric paint before so was impressed with outcome. You must keep brushing the furniture piece while wet and as it dries to obtain a soft supple finish. I will use Fabricoat again as it is much cheaper than upholstering with good quality fabric to give a similar outcome in my opinion.

Somewhat disappointed with the transparency of the fabric paint but love the colour. Initially I thought 500ml would treat the chair. The base colour, a light turquoise, shon through in patches despite carefully attempting an even coverage. We subsequently bought 1 litre and continued. Subsequent application, due to the transparency and to be fair the uneven colour wear of the old chair, just persists the slightly mottled appearance.
Hood website and ordering process - shame bigger sized bottles weren’t available. Paint went on well- followed website video. I got on better with a sponge than a paintbrush as I could get it in the fabric creases and it didn’t spray as much. Good fun and really happy with the result. Not everyone’s colour choice but I seem to have developed a bit of an addiction to this colour … post divorce room upgrade!
Changing my old chair from pink to yellow/gold.
Was unsure about using this but was tempted when I saw it done on a TV programme. So pleasantly surprised by it! Simple to apply and oddly satisfying seeing the tired pale colour be replaced with this vibrant one. I painted this over the same colour so can’t comment about coverage over a different colour, but think it’s best to only paint over a lighter colour with a darker one, rather than the other way round. This job was done with one pack of paint. A note about the supplier: I messed up the order and accidentally ordered twice. Advised the company who responded very quickly, but had already dispatched them, so arranged an immediate refund and was advised to refuse the second pack but if I couldn’t, to keep the second pack with their compliments. Excellent company. Highly recommended.
